Tell Secretary Rice: Israel Must Stop Settlement Activity

Despite repeated promises to the United States to freeze settlement expansion, the Israeli government has just approved more new settlement construction on the West Bank. Click here to tell Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to ask the Israeli government to halt settlement construction.

J Street believes Israel will only be secure and the Middle East stable when Israel makes peace with its neighbors, including the Palestinians. Continued settlement expansion on the West Bank is a major obstacle to making progress toward peace. Settlement expansion undermines Palestinian moderates, deepens the divide separating the sides and undercuts the economic and security interests of Israel in the long run.

We believe it's in Israel's and America's interests for the U.S. to step in. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was able to convince the Israeli government to freeze settlement construction once before -- just last year. She can do it again.

Join J Street, the pro-peace, pro-Israel lobby, and urge Secretary Rice to intervene personally today to get Israel's government to halt this latest round of settlement expansion. Just fill out the form below to get started.
Letter Text
Dear Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice,

Despite repeated promises to the United States to freeze settlement expansion, the Israeli government has just approved more new settlement construction on the West Bank.

I believe Israel will only be secure and the Middle East stable when Israel makes peace with its neighbors. Continued settlement expansion on the West Bank is a major obstacle to making progress toward peace. Settlement expansion undermines Palestinian moderates, deepens the divide separating the sides and undercuts the economic and security interests of Israel in the long run.

It is clear that without American intervention, Israel on its own won't bring settlement expansion to an end. Please do what it takes to encourage the Israeli government to freeze settlement construction.

Sincerely,
