Turning Tragedy into Action

June 1, 2010

Rarely have we felt as much emotion as in the hours since the tragedy off Gaza’s shores. Few among our supporters lack for an opinion or an emotional response – which is natural, human and reflects the diversity of viewpoints in our movement.

But today our focus must turn to the future – toward the meaningful action needed to resolve this conflict.

Moments of great tragedy provide a rare opportunity for focus, clarity, and action. True leaders rise to challenges at times like this -and we look to ours, in particular to President Barack Obama.

We have had enough of actions and reactions that set back the cause of peace and security for all the people of the region. Now is the time to demonstrate overwhelming support for determined leadership to immediately end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. We need the President to lead the way to an end – a real and immediate end – to this tragic conflict.
