Features Foreign Policy Interviews with Democratic Presidential Candidates

WASHINGTON, DC — J Street, the political home for pro-Israel, pro-peace Americans, will host its 2019 National Conference this October 26-29 in Washington, DC.

The conference, one of the largest annual gatherings of American Jews, will feature leading activists, policymakers and political leaders discussing the future of the US-Israel relationship, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and American foreign policy in the Middle East. It will include in-depth interviews on these topics with Democratic presidential candidates including Sen. Michael Bennet, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Secretary Julián Castro, Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Sen. Bernie Sanders.

On Sunday, October 27 and Monday, October 28 at Washington DC’s Convention Center, the candidates will be interviewed individually live on-stage by former Obama administration national security officials Ben Rhodes and Tommy Vietor, the co-hosts of Crooked Media’s Pod Save the World podcast. On the evening of Saturday, October 26, at DAR Constitution Hall, Rhodes and Vietor will open the conference by co-hosting a live-taping of Pod Save the World, focused on the future of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the occupation and American leadership in the region.

On the evening of Monday, October 28, J Street’s National Gala will feature remarks by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Leader Chuck Schumer and a moderated discussion with Senator Chris Van Hollen and Representative Pramila Jayapal. On Tuesday, October 29, attendees will head to Capitol Hill to discuss advocacy priorities with Members of Congress.

At a time when white nationalism and anti-Semitism are on the rise and President Trump has used accusations of anti-Semitism and “anti-Israel” as political weapons, J Street’s conference will promote the democratic goals and values of the large majority of the American Jewish community. Other prominent speakers will include former Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak, Joint List leader Ayman Odeh, Palestinian Chief Negotiator Saeb Erakat and more.
